About Us

What

A fellowship program and network, Michigan Clean Energy Leaders (MCEL) convenes early and mid-career clean energy professionals to share knowledge, skills, and diverse perspectives. Through deep relationship-building, we nurture collaboration to accelerate Michigan’s clean energy transition.

Why

If we develop and resource a new cadre of diverse leaders with durable relationships across industries, then our clean energy transition will accelerate with more innovation, smarter policy, and greater benefit to all Michiganders and our environment.

Program Design

Our core offering is our fellowship program which gathers 15 early and mid-career professionals for two in-person weekend retreats in nature, monthly virtual calls, and regional meetups. We focus on building skills to support deep relationship-building, knowledge exchanges, and collaboration across spheres of clean energy work. Curriculum includes in-depth peer-learning presentations, candid relationship-building conversations with alumni & advisors, and peer-to-peer networking groups. Additional benefits include:
– $1,000 stipend
– Free private coaching for advice & support
– Access to funds to organize in-person network meetups
– Opportunities, perks, & referrals from program partners
– Supportive network to test ideas & amplify projects
– Private LinkedIn group for MCEL community

MCEL is supported by the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council (Michigan EIBC) and our fiduciary Institute for Energy Innovation (IEI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. E2 is a program partner.
